The Holiday Village Zone and What It Is For
Under Article 74 of the Fiesch building and zoning regulations (Bau- und Zonenreglement), the holiday village zone is designated for tourist and public buildings such as group accommodation, restaurants, sports facilities and civil defence facilities. The article also expressly permits flat roofs there. The regulations provide for three storeys, adapted to the existing building fabric and staggered in building length and roof form.
How the buildings are occupied is not regulated. For inspections, though, it makes a difference whether groups change over or the same people stay in the building, and I clarify this with the operator first.
Inspection Rhythm Around Occupancy Changes
For businesses in the holiday village zone, I set up fixed inspection points in the kitchen, storage rooms and civil defence rooms in use, and document every inspection. Where groups change over there, I suggest checking the inspection points at the changeover. The rooms are then empty, and I can see what one group has left behind before the next one moves in.
