For the boundary enclosure of properties, Article 43 of the Brig-Glis building and zoning regulations (Bau- und Zonenreglement) favours living hedges (Lebhäge) wherever possible. Not every property has such a hedge. Where one stands, it can offer rodents cover and a route right up to the building.
Article 85 also requires the municipality's approval for removing any trees, woody growth or shrubs. A hedge is therefore not simply removed. With rodents, I do not start with cutting back the hedge anyway, the entry points on the building come first.
