Vineyards and Allotment Gardens as Their Own Zone
Article 57 of the Brig-Glis building and zoning regulations (Bau- und Zonenreglement) places the vineyard and allotment garden zone (SchG) among the building zones, not the agricultural zones. Under Article 74, only operational vine and garden houses are permitted there, which cannot be heated or lived in, with a maximum gross floor area of 8 square metres.
If a house borders such an area, grapes and garden produce ripen close by, and from the start of ripening they can also attract wasps.
One More Visit When the Grapes Ripen
If your house borders this zone, I add a check on the adjoining facade from the start of ripening, and on your vine or garden house too, if you have one. A report with the nest's location and height is helpful here.
At the nest, I identify the species first. If they are hornets or bees, I first look for a way to avoid treatment. I remove or treat a wasp nest and check for stragglers later. In Naters, however, the nests are in the rubble stone wall in Natischer Berg.
