Window Mullions Under Article 50
Article 50 of the regulations requires window openings on buildings listed in the inventory (Art. 48) to have side or centre mullions at least 12 centimetres wide. In the village zone D, which is worth conserving, window sizes, window layout and window arrangement must also match the surrounding buildings.
These requirements apply to the window, not to the insect screen. A single screen across the whole opening would cover the existing mullions, though, so on such windows I design one screen per pane section.
Zoning and Inventory Status Before Measuring
Before I measure in Raron or St. German, I check whether the property lies in village zone D and is listed in the inventory. Advice and manufacturing are the same as for any other Made-to-measure insect screens in Upper Valais, with the mullion division added here.
