  • Order of facades based on the position of the sun, not a fixed schedule
  • West facade in the morning, east facade in the afternoon, south gable early or in the evening
  • The gable rule applies to St. German, in Raron I go by the individual house

North-South Gables and Sun Exposure on the Facade

Article 51 of the regulations states that flat roofs are generally not permitted in St. German and that gables generally run north to south. On a house oriented this way, the eaves sides face east and west, and the south gable gets the midday sun.

I prefer not to apply treatment to a facade that is hot from the sun, because it dries too quickly there. The east and west sides, however, each lie in the shade at a different time of day.

The Order Follows the Sun

For cleaning and treatment, I follow the same process as for any other Spider treatment in Upper Valais. In St. German, however, I also plan the order for each house based on sun exposure. The west facade comes first in the morning, the east facade in the afternoon, and I treat the south gable early or in the evening.

This way, the surface is not in direct sun when I apply the treatment. If you also have rodents or cockroaches at the same house, read more on Pest control Raron.

Process

Order for a North-South Oriented House

01

West Facade in the Morning

In the morning, the west side lies in the shade, so that is where I start.

02

East Facade in the Afternoon

In the afternoon, the east side lies in the shade and comes next.

03

South Gable Early or in the Evening

Because the south gable gets the midday sun, I treat it early or in the evening, if necessary on a second visit.

Frequently asked

Questions about Spider treatment in Raron

Because the regulations state that gables there generally run north to south, the east and west sides of such houses lie in the shade at different times of day. I treat each side during its shaded period, so the treatment does not dry too quickly on a hot surface.
