Viticulture in St. German

St. German is a separate, higher-lying part of Raron, situated at 757 metres on a hilltop at the foot of the right-hand flank of the Rhone valley. According to the Historical Dictionary of Switzerland, the village has preserved its agricultural character, shaped by viticulture, with buildings dating from the 16th and 17th centuries.

The building and zoning regulations of Raron explicitly classify vineyards as priority 1 agricultural zone (Art. 70). I look at how close vineyards are to a particular house on site.

Follow-up Check on the Vineyard Side

In late summer, as the grapes ripen, I also check the vineyard side of houses near vineyards for stragglers. I identify the species in the same way I describe on Wasp nest removal in Upper Valais.

Because St. German lies on a hilltop as a separate part of the municipality, I assess nesting sites there independently of Raron, which lies lower down. For rodents and cockroaches at the same property, Pest control Raron is the right page.
